Some retailers seem to have started their “post-Christmas” sales before Santa had even slid down the chimney last night, and some haven’t announced any yet. Here’s a roundup of what’s been announced already (Boden, Nordstrom, Janie and Jack, Gymboree, etc.) as well as live updating links to other brands (Tea Collection, Hanna Andersson, etc.) that have historically had Boxing Day sales. What that means is that assuming I wrote my HTML correctly, the photos for the sites that haven’t announced should automatically change to “sale!” or whatever as soon as sales go live, assuming that there are such sales of course. But hopefully at least this will be the major children’s brands in one place so you can see who has or isn’t having a sale. UPDATE: Tea and Hanna have launched their sales!
[Sidenote: I am very much a beginning coder so please bear with me – I’m focused on trying to get all the info right and the pics to change if sales are announced, so forgive me if all the sizes are different, etc. – I’m learning!]
Things to know: They have the Olivia line on a really good sale if you have an Olivia the pig fan in your household. Also, Gymboree has a rewards program called Gymbucks, which for every $50 you spend from now until Jan. 10 you get $25 in Gymbucks that can be redeemed off of a $50 purchase from Jan. 14-24th. I like Gymbucks because they’re a flat redemption (like Old Navy cash) – you can use them if your total is $50 whether it’s $50 of $5.99 sale items or full-priced stuff.
Application to newest clothing: Yes, 20% off new arrivals
Shipping: Free shipping on $50+
Things to know: Hanna’s semi-annual sale just went live! Check out the dresses, tights, and sweaters (boys too!) especially.
Application to newest clothing: Doubtful – their new arrivals are adorable but I’d be shocked if Hanna lowered prices on them so quickly, so if you love any you’ll likely need to pay full price. They have announced a “Hello There, Spring” promo where if you make a purchase online or in-store between now and January 3rd you’ll get a 20% savings card to be used on a regular price purchase from Jan. 18-25, so that’s always an option too.
Shipping: Hanna shipping varies but tends to not be cheap. However, if you live near a store you can choose the “ship to store” option at checkout and they’ll ship it for free to your local store.
JANIE AND JACK
Things to know: Janie and Jack is exquisite and beautifully made, and priced accordingly. I always think of J&J as detailed girls dresses but they have just as much boys stuff, and what I always forget is that they make nice jackets, many of which seem to be 50% off in this sale. So if you want a peacoat for next season, here’s where I’d buy ahead. They also have boys suits on sale if you have a formal occasion in your future.
Application to newest clothing: No.
Shipping: Free shipping on $75+
Things to know: UPDATE: Take an extra 25% off sale items with code ADIOS. Tea’s End of Season sale has been live for a little while now, so the “sale” section is nicely populated. Traditionally they’ve done some kind of further markdown after Christmas. Tea tried new sizing this season, so some items are in numerical sizes (4/5/6) and some are in alphanumeric (S/M/L). I felt like things ran a little on the wide side with the Argentina/Bolivia fall line, with both types of sizing (not enough to size down for sure but just an FYI).
Application to newest clothing: TBD. Tea launched the new Citizen Blue transition line last week – you won’t see it in the sale section but if there was a percent off sale it should apply to CB (they did a % off CB flash already)
Shipping: Free shipping on $150+
(not sure how I made the actual “Boden” part go away, but that’s what this one is!)
Things to know: Up to 50% off sale has already started – good deals on dresses especially, less so on pants.
Application to newest clothing: Nope – Boden just released their latest line a few days ago, it’s not included in the sale yet. Although I have to say that I love that the newest line has clothing for girls with dinosaur patterns!
Shipping: Free shipping on $49+
Things to know: Half-yearly sale is on! Nordstrom carries some of the brands mentioned above, like Tea, Boden, and Hanna, but in a more limited selection. You’re more looking at Nordstrom for your high-end brands or for their in-house brand Tucker + Tate, which I like the quality of.
Application to newest clothing: Unlikely, but they do price match, so if you find a new arrival on sale from the manufacturer (and sometimes other sources – unclear) they will price match it.
Shipping: Yes, on everything. No minimum. And free returns. I love Nordstrom.
Things to know: Here’s the link to Amazon’s current clothing/shoe sale, although it’s worth searching as well since sometimes that same item by different sellers can be listed differently / priced differently.
Application to newest clothing: N/A
Shipping: Free two-day ship on pretty much everything with Amazon Prime (don’t have it? Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial)
Here’s hoping this helps you get all the things your kids still need, and wishing you all a wonderful new year!
